===Ushahidi and Java===

'Some of us want to use Ushahidi in the context of courses in which Java is the main programming language.  However, Ushahidi is written primarily in PHP and SQL.  One option is to use the [https://wiki.ushahidi.com/display/WIKI/Ushahidi+Public+API Ushahidi Web API].  There is even [https://github.com/ushahidi/Ushahidi_Java a Java warpper for that API].  Another is to work with the Android App, which like most Android Apps, is written in Java.  We've started [[Ushahidi_Android_Application | a short guide to building the Ushahidi Android App]].

The Future of Ushahidi

Ushahidi is going through a fairly significant rewrite, so it will look different in awhile. However, they are really making a push to document their development process for the forthcoming version 3.0.

The rewrite is to make it more manageable.

You can find out more about it by Googling "Ushahidi 3.0".

See [1] for links to design process, blogs, etc.
