There are not many learning activities so far that support the individual steps of this pathway. It is possible to merge several of the activities suggested below into a single, larger activity instead of treating them as separate smaller ones.

For step 1, we could define a learning activity that asks the student to explore various projects, perhaps through a site such as OpenHub, and find the instructions to download and install the project executable. The student could write up what they did a deliverable.

For step 2, we could define a learning activity that asks the student to explore various projects, similar to step 1, and for each, determine whether the system requirements are compatible with the system environment on which they would be installed. The deliverable would be a report that describes the steps and which were installable or not.

For step 3, we could define a learning activity that asks the student to visit a few different project sites, examine the different download options - source versus binary, and for source, whether the tar-ball or zip, etc is available and appropriate, and for binary, finding the right one. The deliverable would be some type or report.

For step 4, the step 1 activity could be modified so that the projects to be identified only have install instructions in the downloaded files, and the student must do the download and find them.

There are two learning activities, Intro Project Identification Activity and Project Evaluation (Activity) that should be prerequisite activities.
