I'm a professor at Meredith College in Raleigh. We do a real CS major, but there's only two of us teaching, so I wear many hats.

Evaluating Mifos

I worked through this once, but the spreadsheet is set up so the box is fixed and if you

type too much, you can't see it. So I have comments like "project too big", but I didn't have space to write anything that would help me know WHY I thought that later. In that case, the target size from the video is not lines of code, but contributor count, 6 contributors per year (and I'm glad I took notes, because THAT criteria isn't written where I've been able to find it). This project had 25 per month at one point so I think it's too big. Lately the contributor count is down, but only because of waning activity (another thing not helpful for students joining in). Some of the more recent material, like the 14 Ways to Contribute to FOSS article, tell about ways to contribute that this project might benefit from. One of the code widgets reports that the comment level is low. Testing and all that little picky long-tail stuff might be good.
